Easy side dish: Sauteed cabbage and bacon

I tend to have a hard time coming up with yummy side dishes. This is one of my favorites and reminds me of my momma every time I eat it. It goes well with any meat, especially pork chops, and even people who don’t like veggies tend to enjoy this dish! Plus, it is really easy and inexpensive! 
Sauteed Cabbage and Bacon
Ingredients
1 Cabbage
3 Slices Bacon
2 Cloves Garlic, diced
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Quarter cabbage and then cut into large slices
Cook bacon in a heavy, large skillet over medium high heat, until it sizzles- about 3 minutes. Add garlic and continue to cook until bacon is browned. Stir in cabbage and the remaining ingredients and cook covered until cabbage softens (about 10 minutes).

    Great post on journaling, Carrie. I have only tried this after completing my book, usually for character blog posts. Most times my books evolve from an idea or story question, and the characters evolve from that…except with Renner. He was Trey’s partner in Journey’s End, and I knew as soon as he hit the page that he’d star in his own book.
