Why running skirts are my new favorite + yoga mat giveaway! Get fit this spring!

I couldn’t wait to say hello to spring. One of the main reasons is because I love to run outside. This week I pulled out my summer running gear and got super excited. I am hoping to train for a half marathon later this year. Eek!

Running has become one of my go-t0 workouts as a mom. It is easy to put on my running shoes and go. It is also the most inexpensive sport I currently participate in. Why? I don’t need a gym membership, I can take my shoes with me anywhere, and my gear is all relatively low in cost and lasts a good while.

My new favorite piece of running Β gear is definitely a cute running skirt. I have seen so many runners wearing them, but just thought they were a bit unnecessary. Sure, I thought they were adorable, but I did not really get the hype. Instead, I would just assume they were trying to look cute and feminine on their run. had a great selection on running skirts and a really good sale, so I decided to pick one and give it a try. To my delight, the skirt was not only super cute and flattering, it was extremely comfortable. I ran four miles with absolutely no chafing or shorts riding up. The compression shorts built into the skirt controlled everything, and stayed put the entire time. The skirt actually gave more coverage while I ran as it simply hung over the shorts. I felt very comfortable and cute. Bonus: it can transition easily for errand running time. I got the Skirt Sports Women’s Gym Girl Ultra Skirt and LOVE it.

I also got these amazing Sanuk Yoga Sling sandals- I have worn them every day. They are super comfortable. I change into them as soon as I can!

Running skirts are also amazing because they come in a wide variety of lengths and colors. I chose a mid length one and found it perfect.

Some of my other favorite gear for running are:

1. A great pair of running shoes

2. A good sports bra

3. Sport-wicking socks

4. An arm band for my I-Phone

5. A great pair of sunglasses

6. Comfortable sandals for day to day to give feet rest

Be sure to download an app on your phone with GPS that tracks your distance and time, and don’t forget some good music!

Happy running season to all of you, and I hope you get out there and enjoy the sun!

I’ll have to give running skirts a try. The worst thing ever is jogging or walking and having your shorts start that slow creep northward.

I LOVE this! I run all the time, and I really hate having to do the whole “jog, tug, jog, tug” maneuver. I’ve got to get some running skirts.

When I was actively running a few years ago I was using a running skort (shorts that has flaps to make it look like a skirt). It was one of my favorite exercise outfits!

I have not been able to run because of an injury, but this skit is so cute. I would wear it to the gym and feel comfortable if I had to run errands.

My wife has thought about starting to walk/jog/run but she always puts it off because when she’s done it in the past she could never find bottoms that were comfortable for her to wear. I think a running skirt would work really well for her plus I bet she’d look cute in it, I’ll say something about this to her the next time she brings it up πŸ™‚
