I am very excited to share with you all a book in which I had the opportunity to review. The book is called F.I.T.- Faith Inspired Transformation. I really enjoyed reading this book because I come from a background of struggling with yo-yo dieting and eating disorders. I started dance as a young girl, and will never forget the day I was praised for getting “thinner”. My inner pride swelled within me, even as a young girl, and from that point on I craved the attention and admiration from my coaches and from boys that made me feel good. I started to feel more significant when I was thin, and less when I gained weight. The struggle just got bigger when I joined the cheer team and show choir in high school, both activities which consisted of fitting into small costumes and where the my body image was very much shattered.
The book focuses on marrying our faith and our fitness. For many who struggle with over-eating, extreme dieting, or not trusting God or being grateful for the bodies he has given us, this book is an encouragement to trust God with our struggles, and not try “fad” fixes or short cuts. The author calls women who are struggling with their health and fitness to shift their focus from what the world says to what the Word of God says about our bodies and diet. Kim Dolan Leto is a fitness expert, writer and speaker who has a passion for leading women to experience faith-inspired transformations that affect their entire beings.
It has taken me years to heal from the lies I believed. Unfortunately, I cannot get back the years I was self-consumed by my image, but I can move forward and press on to be more like Christ. While I will always struggle with my image, I have learned a few very valuable things thanks to God. He desires me to trust him with every area of my life, including the food I put into my body and the way in which I care for myself. He wants me to be strong to do his work, sober-minded, and as healthy as possible. He wants me to be less-concerned about my outer beauty, and much more concerned about my inner beauty. He does not desire for me to crave attention for my looks, but rather desires my modesty and inner beauty to be what attracts others to me- a gentle and quiet spirit who lives with joy for God.
This book is a great read for women who struggle with aligning health and fitness to their relationship with God. I know what it is like to compartmentalize my life, and to not give God the messy parts of my life. Kim Leto, through her very honest and practical book, helps us to see that God does very much care about our entire lives, and that he can help us with every part of our lives- including our health and fitness.
I am very happy to give away one of these books to a reader! Why do you look forward to reading this book?
