Well, this is a rare occasion. My husband and I went out on a date. Gasp! How sad it is that I cannot remember the last time we went out alone. I love my daughter, but every once in a while I just dream of a little adult time, red red wine, and hanging with my man. We were so thrilled to go see Cirque Du Soleil Kurios Cabinet of Curiosities!
Life has been crazy around here for some reason. Are there ever enough hours in a day? I am still trying to figure that out…
Have you ever been to a Cirque show? It has been several years for myself, and let me just say, GO! Book the next event near you. I was simply mesmerized by the Cirque Du Soleil performance Kurios. It was a fantastical adventure filled with heart dropping moments, complete hilarity, and the most beautiful and talented performers I have ever seen. Oh, to be able to dangle from a bike suspended twenty to thirty feet into the air like it is nothing. Honestly, the performers are so incredibly talented. It is inspiring to watch the acrobatics, gymnastics, strength, and ability of humans.
The night was really magical. We showed up and it was pouring. Like, flash flood watch status. Yet, the tents were crowded. As we walked in we shifted into another reality. A woman on stilts greeted us. Other performers lingered around the cocktail and appetizer area. We each got a glass of red wine and stood back, taking it all in. We got to taste delicious appetizers served during the pre-show festivity, including a delicious deviled egg and some lamb!
When we walked into the tent, I was blown away by the set. Kurios had a steam-punk theme mixed with upbeat music and a lively cast of energetic personalities and fantastic costumes. The live music alone is worth seeing the show. I loved the voices and the instruments and the upbeat music that just makes you want to dance.
My husband and I couldn’t believe how fast the first act seemed to go- about one hour or so. The show starts with complete chaos and music. You sit enthralled by everything going on around you. It then moves to a Russian Cradle Duo act that shows off crazy acrobatics. We got to see an invisible circus act- this act was hilarious! Each act completely enthralled our eyes and senses. We soon found ourselves at intermission, which was the perfect length. We were able to grab a drink and go to the restroom, and head back to our seats. Another hour flew by. My favorite set by far was the Acro Net… picture a giant trampoline and several performers jumping so high and doing so many crazy stunts and tricks that it is almost unbelievable.
It was an amazing night, and I am so happy we chose this for our date night. Concerts come and go, but experience Cirque Du Soleil was really fun and exciting. We left chatting about all the acts and sharing our favorite parts, and also wishing we had an ounce of the talent those performers have! Go check out Cirque Du Soleil for tickets and dates!
