Doing something out of my comfort zone! BODYPUMP training!

Well, the time has come! I signed up over a month ago for BODYPUMP certification this weekend. I cannot believe it is here. I am kind of freaking out to be honest, but I am also excited to try something TOTALLY out of my comfort zone and push myself to the limits.

I am definitely not your average fitness girl. I have always shied away from lifting heavy weights, going totally paleo, or even jumping on the Crossfit bandwagon (even though so many of my friends swear by it!).  A few years ago I started taking BODYPUMP classes because they seemed easy enough to try, and I could always progress on my own each week. Plus, I liked that I could do less weights if I was tired and more weights if I felt great. I grew to love the way I felt after resistance training, and noticed a huge improvement in my running gait and overall fitness. I realized one day that I thought it would be fun to teach these classes and help other women my age and fitness level realize that resistance training can be fun, non-intimidating, and really help them feel and look better. (Emphasis on FEEL!)

So, tomorrow I go for nine hours of training, and the daunting task of presenting my two tracks in front of the whole class (EEK!), followed by another eight hours of training on Sunday. We will be pushed physically and mentally to the limit. I was told to bring extra clothing because I WILL need it from all the sweating I will be doing. I am sure I will be surrounded by people who have taught fitness classes for twenty years, amazing fitness guru’s, and muscle-women. Me? I am just your average, run of the mill, stay at home mom who loves working out. So, we will see! I hope I don’t make a fool of myself. I have practiced as much as I possibly could have the past two weeks, memorizing my tracks and my counts and my moves, including the proper technique and verbiage. I have been looked at strangely by my husband and daughter in our living room practicing, and have even laughed at myself.

Yet, I am excited and proud to have tried something new, and hope that no matter what, it will have been a good experience. So, my blog has taken a bit of a back seat the past few weeks as I have attempted to go for something new and a bit crazy. Let’s see what happens! I will keep you all posted on how it goes!

I am currently doing a dietbet to lose some weight. I need some strength training in my life! I think this is really awesome that you are going after this! I have always loved the group classes and would love it if my gym offered this!

Good for you girl! That’s awesome! I contemplated last year doing the same thing but I can’t commit to what they want in terms of minimum amount of classes they want you to teach and just family stuff that made me feel uneasy committing (my mother law’s COPD has gotten worse)… Always something right? So eventually I will but the time isn’t right. I go to 2 classes a week and LOVE it! Good luck and keep us posted!! 🙂

Good for you Tiffany!! I saw BodyPump in the photo and had to come over and read. I was slightly addicted to it years ago and then sadly, the classes are no longer offered in my area. If we were close in area, believe that I would be in one of your classes!
