Let’s Be Friends Blog Hop is live- come link up!

A blog hop is a set time frame for current or aspiring bloggers to find new blogs and quality content. It is a great way to make new friends and find inspiration! It is also a fabulous way to promote your own blog and posts.

Dear Friends,
What a day to celebrate! This is the 172nd week of the Let’s Be Friends blog hop! Thanks for joining us on this special day. Chelsee and Tiffany are extremely delighted to see the way this hop has grown and love to see your faces each week!

**IMPORTANT HOUSEKEEPING NOTE! We are looking for co-hosts for our blog hop for June! This is a great way to gain new followers and network with other bloggers! If you are interested please email thedwellingtree@gmail.com! Thank you!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I’ve never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!
The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That’s right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week’s hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.
The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!

10 Things to do in Breckenridge, CO in the Spring and Summer

Moving to Colorado has been one of the best decisions my husband and I made a few years ago. It is possibly one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. With skiing, hiking, biking, water rafting, and endless running trails just an hour from Denver Metro, it is an incredible place to vacation, staycation, or make home.

One of our favorite “retreats” is escaping to the mountains in the spring. Why the spring? Well, the winter is obviously crowded with skiiers and snowboarders from all around the world. Breckenridge is one of the closest ski towns to our house, clocking in about one hour from our doorstep with no traffic. Breckenridge holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first ski town I had ever visited in my life. I love the yellow Starbucks house, the street shops lined with local artisans and boutiques, and the gorgeous views.

We recently had the opportunity to stay at Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center, and it was so much fun! This is our second time staying here as a family. I love it because it is a kid and dog friendly resort complete with a spa, arcade, hot tubs, an amazing indoor/ outdoor pool, and a shuttle that runs from town to the hotel.

There is so much to do. Our last visit was for a wedding, so we had tons of activities planned. We spent most of our free time relaxing, swimming, and shopping.

My daughter loved the pool at Beaver Run resort because it was warm! We could swim day and night, despite the snow. She loved to swim and then change and play in the arcade and grab a snack from the shop.

We enjoyed my sister’s wedding, which was just beautiful. We had tons of fun! It was simply gorgeous with snow and an amazing backdrop.

Enough of my rambling. Let me simply share some of my favorite things to do in the spring with your loved ones.

  1. Biking: Breckenridge has tons of awesome biking trails! Trails or paved paths, there are always great biking adventures available!
  2. Boating: You and your family can rent a canoe, kayak, or pontoon boat and enjoy the lovely views of Breckenridge.
  3. Swimming: My family loved to use the pool at Beaver Run Resort. It was open almost all day, warm, clean, and super fun. Swimming is the perfect way to let a busy toddler burn some steam and also make memories!
  4. Shopping: I love shopping, and I especially love shopping in new places. There are over 200 quaint local shops in Breckenridge full gifts and souvenirs. Along the way you will find cute coffee shops and places to grab cookies or crepes.
  5. Fishing: If you love to fish, Breckenridge has both fishing and fly-fishing complete with some of the most breathtaking views around!
  6. Hiking: We are a major hiking family, and love to hike Breck! Go here for a list of great hikes!
  7. Horseback Riding: Horseback riding is one of my favorite memories as a child. Breck offers safe horseback riding for the whole family. Go here for more info.
  8. Spa: The Spa at Beaver Run has packages for massage, body treatments, skincare, and more. Treat yourself to a hot stone massage or a fountain of youth facial.
  9. Yoga: Love yoga? Beaver Run hosts $10 drop in yoga classes. See their website for more details!
  10. Dining: Some of our personal local favorites include Downstairs at Eric’s, a local restaurant and bar known for great comfort food and lots of awesome beers on tap. We love their pizza and fried pickles! Also be sure to check out Blue River Bistro  and Crepes a la Cart.

Have you ever been to Breckenridge, CO? If so, what do you love to do? Ski, snowshoe, hike? What is your favorite family “staycation” in your area?

First pair of wings at Rubis and Diamonds Studio

“You’re never too old to be a fairy”. – Rubi, Owner, Rubi’s and Diamonds Studio

Lillian and I recently experienced a once in a lifetime photo experience. Lil is four, which can be a very tricky age to get quality photographs. It had been a while since we took photos, almost a full year, so I was really excited to get some cute ones.

Turns out, these aren’t just photographs, but works of art.

But let me back up to the experience.

Honestly, I was a little nervous to take Lil to get photos. She is starting to become aware of herself when we do photos, and sometimes gets very shy or nervous. She has this adorable little grin that looks staged when we ask her to smile for the camera.

We were told to put shorts on her and do her hair, and the rest would be taken care of at the studio. I curled Lillian’s hair at home, which she just loved, and on the way to the studio we both got a Starbucks. I got a latte, she got a hot cocoa. I kind of made it a “Mommy and Me day”, which was really fun and memorable.

When we arrived at the studio we immediately entered an enchanted fairy garden. It felt reality floated away as the door closed behind us. I was impressed, but my daughter was mesmerized. She thought she had entered another world! There was a plush-like rug, adorable little chairs, and even a Tinkerbell movie playing as we waited. Gorgeous magical butterflies and glittery flowers surrounded us along the wall and ceiling. The walls were painted with scenes of water lilies, a magical forest, rivers, and a fantastic tree was built into the studio filled with flowers and vines and butterflies.

Lillian’s name was called, and Damarys, the photographer, said, “Welcome, Princess!”. Lillian looked behind at me with both a coy smile and delight. She was then led into a room in which she was able to choose a dress out of a beautiful wardrobe of fairy gowns. She chose the green “Tinkerbell” dress, as she called it. She dressed in privacy behind the dressing wall, and then sat at the lovely vanity. Damarys and Rubi applied some soft blush, a bit of lip gloss, sparkly eye shadow, and “fairy sparkle dust” on her arms. She LOVED it!

Rubi, Owner of Rubi’s and Diamonds, personally applied eye shadow to Lillian. She made this funny face, but loved it after. Rubi was a delight and such a natural with kids. I was amazed at how she decorated the beautiful room and her vision for the studio.

She was then led into a fairy garden via a lovely corridor with more amazing paintings. The whole environment felt magical and whimsical and fun. Damarys and Rubi then surprised Lillian with the most fun moment: she gained her first pair of wings!

The photographer, Damarys, was able to build rapport with Lillian and put her at ease. It was brilliant to see my daughter’s face light up and just relax. Her giggles and smiles made my heart happy.

The first scene Lillian held this lovely flower.

The second scene she got to hold a miniature Tinkerbell in a lantern.

The third scene she held a magic ball that lit up.

The fourth scene was the mushroom scene, her favorite, because she got to pretend to fly!

Between scenes Lillian kept asking, “Mom, can we do a different scene please?” She did not want it to end! (Which is not her normal self when it comes to taking photos, believe me).

There were other amazing scenes as well including a sleeping scene and her holding a giant flower. This is my favorite pic of the bunch.

Rubi’s and Diamonds is the only studio in Colorado specializing in fairy garden photography. Ms. Rubi has owned the studio for over four years, and also does maternity sessions, newborn photography, sweet sixteen photos, family and sibling photography. The custom photography starts at $80 per session, making it a wonderful gift idea for Mother’s Day, birthday’s, the addition of a new sibling, Christmas, or grandparent’s gifts.

I cannot wait to frame my photo and put it in my bedroom as a reminder of my special day with my daughter. These pictures will always remind me of her youthful spirit and sweet childhood innocence. Even as she grows older each day, these treasures will hold her in my heart as a four-year old forever.
