Car seat safety with Britax: is YOURS safely installed?

Brought to you by Britax.

96% of parents think that they’re car seats correctly. 3 out of 4 are not.

That is scary, right?

Infants and toddlers are five times safer riding rear-facing until they are at least two years old, as reported by the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics).

Britax has a revolutionary installation system that uses the vehicle seat belt that’s safe, secure, and easy every time- whether rear-facing or forward-facing. It is a simple 3 step process that is as simple as buckling your own seat belt!

Another fact: did you know you are not supposed to use both “latch” and the car seat straps? Apparently I missed that memo! We thought we were being extra safe by using both!!

I recently had the pleasure of attending an amazing event put on by Denver Metro Moms Blog, a part of the City Moms Blog Network, and Britax. Maria Montaño, the company PRESIDENT, was there in attendance! We listened to a fantastic presentation on car seat safety. I got to hear first hand about special features Britax has developed for their car seats. I was absolutely blown away!

We were able to view the new Advocate ClickTight Convertible Carseat with the ARB (Anti-Rebound Bar). It is awesome!!

Let me share a few of these safety features today with you!

ClickTight System

I found the ClickTight technology amazing. As Joyce, one of the companies leading developers installed the car seats, I was impressed by how simple it was to install the seats. ClickTight is great because you don’t have to thread the belt through the seat every time or worry about it not being “tight” enough.

LATCH is slowly phasing out, as there is a weight limit on LATCH being safe: 65 pounds (including child and car seat). I love that the ClickTight system gives more peace of mind for parents.

To set up the ClickTight system you simply:

  • Open the ClickTight compartment at the front of the seat
  • Thread both parts of the seatbelt through the retaining slots
  • Remove the slack
  • Press the ClickTight compartment back down
  • Check the indicator to ensure that the compartment is closed securely

Anti-Rebound Bar

The Anti-Rebound Bar (ARB) minimizes forces associated with crashes by stabilizing the car seat when installed rear-facing. It is a padded, steel bar that attaches to the foot-end of the ClickTight convertible car seats and used when rear-facing only.

SafeCell Impact Protection

SafeCell Impact Protection ensures side safety protection beyond the federal safety standards. As the leader in safety technology, only Britax car seats have SafeCell Impact Protection. SafeCell convertible car seats provides energy absorption and movement limitation in a collision, keeping child safe and parents worry free. – See more at:

Lastly, when my daughter was fitted in her convertible car seat she mentioned how comfortable the seat was. It is so plushy and cozy. I love knowing that not only is she safer while we are driving, but she is also very comfortable. The seat adjusts to fit a child up to 65 pounds! I love this Britax ClickTight Carseat and am very happy that my daughter is going to be safe up until she is almost six or seven. This carseat is very much worth the price considering the safety features as well as longevity- 5lbs to 65 pounds, rear or forward facing! Love it!!!

This was an important and fun event. We ate fantastic food, shared stories with other mothers, and learned about car seat safety. I learned about car seat safety and it empowered me to make better choices to keep my child safe. Britax is a company I trust. I was so impressed with the representatives from Britax!

Found you post on the Let’s Be Friends Link Up. It’s amazing to me how little people know about car seat safety. My husband and I went to a safety class and we had the police department check to make sure our seat was installed correctly. Recently I saw my sister-in-law put her baby in the car seat with the chest clip around his belly button and a bunch of slack in the straps. I lovingly explained to her the correct way to strap the baby in and she replied that she had no idea she was doing it wrong. I’m glad car seat companies are making safety a little more intuitive.
