Oh friends. It’s been a while since I’ve treated myself to some pampering! I just had my sweet little girl Avery, shy of six weeks old! She’s a dream come true. But nights have been long and I really haven’t had much time to practice any self-care! 

To start, I made a fun DIY hair mask recipe at home!

DIY coconut milk hair mask

Coconut milk is wonderful for hair and is budget friendly. Super rich in fatty acids and nutritious oils, coconut milk serves as an amazing base for a quick and easy homemade hair mask. This mask is awesome for beauty treatments and to use on a regular basis for moisturizing dry and treated hair- which is why I made this!

Ingredients 

• 1 avocado 
• 1 tablespoon liquid honey 
• 2- 4 tablespoons coconut milk 
• 2-3 drops tea tree essential oil

Directions 

Blend Blend the avocado, honey, coconut milk, and drops of tea tree oil into a puree using the high speed on a blender. Make sure all lumps are gone. Gently massage the mask onto wet hair and scalp, making sure to cover each strand. Cover hair with a shower cap and let sit 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cold or lukewarm water until all traces of the mask are gone. Dry and style as usual!  

Which is why I was so excited to get a little “me” time today and try out a new hair color, paint my nails, plucky my eyebrows, do a mud mask, and whiten my teeth! I have found it So important to take a little time out to make sure I feel good. 

I have been long overdue for a new color!! I’ve noticed little grays popping up (ah!), and the overall color was pretty drab! Not anymore! I love my new look! I love how shiny and vibrant my hue is! I used Schwarzkopf keratin color anti-age hair color in Delicate Praline. It only took 30 minutes to dye my hair! It was super easy to use and made my hair look fuller, younger looking, and shinier in just one application. I wanted to find some professional quality hair color at home that offers flattering colors while caring for the hair. The Schwarzkopf keratin color was super fun because it cares for your hair as well as provides 100% gray coverage. I love that I experienced less hair breakage and was able to apply a pre-treatment for even color results! The intense colors that were available were really fun to choose from. My favorite part about the hair color after was how rich the color looked and how much more shiny my hair appeared!

Here is a quick tutorial for all of you on how easy it was to apply Schwarzkopf Keratin Color at home!

First I put on my safety gloves and did a patch test on my skin. Next step was the pre-treatment which I applied to the ends of my hair. 

Second step I added the color cream to the developer and shook the bottle gently, then applied directly strand by strand until I evenly colored my hair. I did this while my hubby watched the kiddos for me and it only took about 3-5 minutes. So easy! Then I set an alarm for 30 minutes and got some dishes done!

When it was time to rinse out my hair I simply rinsed until the water ran clear. I then did the 3rd step- the Keratin Care Complex Conditioner. The conditioner felt SO good and soft on my hair- silky smooth. I let it sit in my hair two minutes then rinsed!

I love how the color turned out! My hair before looked pretty drab and I had some highlights that needed a bit of toning up.

I also had about six grey hairs I needed to cover up!

After my hair color was darker, richer, and shinier. The highlights looked SO much better than before and were mostly covered, which I love. It had been almost a year since I had my hair done!

My favorite part of coloring my hair at home was the fact that I was done within 35 minutes and was able to get back to cuddling with my newborn. I love my new look and feel so much better!

How to throw a favorite things party

Hi Friends! This is Tiffany this week! I love this fun idea for throwing a favorite things party. We recently did this at one of the mom groups I am a part of (MOPS for those of you who know of it!), and it was SO fun! I think this would be a fantastic idea for an office party, ice breaker for an event, or for Christmas! I am totally stealing this idea for the holidays this year! So fun!!!

I am always looking for fun activities to do with my kiddo. Since it is summer right now, it’s pretty hot, so I’ve been looking for indoor things to do! My daughter loves crafts, so when I learned about Painting with a Twist I knew it would be something she would love to do! Painting is such a great way to get creative energy out.

We attended our class on the perfect day. It was a sweltering 90 degrees outside. She was so excited for the painting we were going to learn to do- painting Dragons! This class was specifically a family class. It was amazing because each step was simple, relaxed, and fun! I love the unique theme- dragons! So cute!

When we stepped into the studio we were warmly welcomed by our lead artist! She asked us our names  and if we’d ever been there before. She was super fun and set the class up to be a relaxed, casual, and exciting time! She encouraged all of us to just enjoy our time and step back if we ever needed a quick break! She even let my daughter name the “paintbrushes”! She named the smaller paintbrush Avery, after her little sister!

We both picked out a refreshment and a snack and settled into our seats to paint. I’ll admit, I was nervous my kiddo would get tired of painting or simply get frustrated, but she hung in there the entire time thanks to the amazing teaching of our lead artist! She kept us engaged and even had us get up to take breaks, dry our painting, do games and contests, and step back to look at our art! The class flew by and we had such a fun time!

I think the best part of attending Painting with a Twist was walking away with memories and a new canvas art that we created together. My daughter has been asking daily to go back and even wants to bring Daddy next time!
